Lichen Poem: Drought

I was once the Cock of The Walk

The subject of Various Talk

I was never an Emperor

I’ll tell Ya I was never a King

But in my own little World I was

The Earth was once a fragment

Of my Mind that I could shape, and bend

Happiness was like Air–it was unlimited with no end

Everyone said “Hi!” They all said it with a smile

The world was Soda, and Candy, there was no Bile

I had a Pup, and a timber wolf, plus a little Chinchilla

Every morning I had Cocoa, with a spoonful of Vanilla

But it all ended, I guess everything dies

It seemed like everyone knew, I thought I saw it in all their eyes

But I’m still not Sure about that
